"Dream. Believe. Survive." The words and tagline of the popular Philippine television show "StarStruck". StarStruck
is the first reality-based artista search in primetime TV. It showcases the talent of every girl and boy in the show.
Dancing, singing, acting; three primary skills which a person should have to be a star. 'Cause in StarStruck,
everything is a test. So believe in the power of dreams and survive, STARSTRUCK!
ALVIN ARAGON
If luck remains on his side, 15-year-old Alvin Aragon might as well be the
next rags-to-riches story in Philippine show business. The youngest in the
family of 11, Alvin has been separated from all his siblings after their
parents died. He has since lived with his aunt who is married but has no
children. The rest of his brothers and sisters lived elsewhere, several of
whom now have their own families in Canada.
Appearing on television has always been Alvins dream since he was young.
Now that he is part of Starstrucks select group of showbiz hopefuls, Alvin
wishes to win the coveted GMA management contract so that he can have the
rest of his brothers and sisters under one roof again.
CRISTINE REYES
Fifteen-year-old Cristine Reyes wants to make a name for herself and be known for
her own talents and capabilities. And prove herself she did when she
auditioned for Starstruck and sang Mariah Careys Hero as an audition
piece. She has since honed her other talents in preparation for a stiffer
competition as she competes with her fellow Starstruck finalists.
Cristine is determined to win and be able to help her family. According
to her, she is willing to give up everything because she is already
committed to show business. As a start, she would prefer doing comedy
roles and probably be part of Bubble Gang and other sitcoms. In doing drama,
she prefers contrabida roles because she finds it a challenge to internalize
intimidating scenes. Cristine describes herself as simple yet dangerous.
ANTON DELA PAZ
At 17, Anton Dela Paz is already a self-confessed sports addict because he
indulges in the adrenaline rush of basketball and motorcross. He enjoys being
athletic and would like to do comedy-action roles if ever he makes it in
show business. Doing action comes with his sporty lifestyle and the comedy
part would be relatively easy because he is used to clowning around with
friends.
Anton admits that doing drama would be something new for him, but he is
more than ready to face the challenge. When asked how he would internalize a
scene where he needs to cry, he says he would most likely think of how much
his parents are working hard for their family and think of how they encourage
him to strive for a better future.
JADE LOPEZ
Making it to Starstrucks Final 14 is a dream come true for 15-year-old Jade
Lopez. Having attended acting workshops since she was 12 years old, she had
long set her mind on being part of the glitzy world of show business. Apart
from her cameo roles in several television shows, the well-chiseled face of
this Seventeen Magazine Best Female Model may already be familiar to some as
she has also appeared in print ads for several clothing lines and womens
magazines. Recently, she appeared in Parokya Ni Edgars Mr. Suave music
video.
Jade excels in acting, dancing and modeling and loves to collect figurines,
watch TV and listen to the radio. When asked what particular aspect of show
business appeals to her most, she admits that she loves the popularity it
entails and that it is the career she wants to pursue for as long as she can.
SHEENA YVETTE HALILI
Out of the four friends who auditioned for Starstruck at Robinsons Pampanga, only
16-year-old Sheena Yvette Halili made it to the Final 14. Sheena recalls
that she was really determined to appear on TV although her parents were
against the idea at first. She has joined and won several pageants in
Pampanga and has modeled for different apparels.
The eldest of three girls, Sheena grew up trendy, kikay and very
sociable. She discloses that she used to idolize Donna Cruz and would
reenact the actress-singers scenes in front of the mirror. She takes pride
in having made it to the Starstruck Final 14 because it is one great
achievement for her. She plans to stick it out in show business even if it
means constantly reinventing herself.
TYRON PEREZ
Standing at 511 and tipping the scales at 155 lbs., 18-year-old Tyron Perez
hails from Tarlac and is fond of kickboxing and basketball. Tyron has
attended acting workshops under Peque Gallaga and Ann Villegas. He also
appeared in the movie Malikmata. The youngest in a brood of six, Tyron is
determined to succeed in show business and follow the footsteps of his idol
Christopher De Leon.
Tyron shares that in doing a dramatic scene where he needs to cry, he
would mostly likely think back of the saddest moment in his life three years
ago when his cousin died. He believes that this is the best way he can
express the deep remorse needed for the scene.
KATRINA HALILI
Call it destiny or a stroke of luck, but seventeen-year-old Katrina Halilis
propensity to hang out in Eastwood was what brought her to the doorstep of
stardom. It was during Starstrucks location search in Eastwood that Katrina
decided to audition, and the rest, as they say, is history. Now that she is
part of the Starstruck Final 14, she admits that it is one opportunity she
would not want to waste. She knows that the wealth of experience Starstruck
gives her is a far cry from the exposure she got as a finalist in a beauty
contest back in Palawan.
Young as she is, Katrina is very conscious about her looks and takes great
pains in maintaining her slim figure. She goes to the gym and even takes
crash diets whenever she thinks she has gained weight. Although relatively
shy, Katrina was able to pass the Starstruck auditions by her looks and
singing talent. If ever she wins and becomes an actress someday, she would
want to do sexy comedy roles ala Rufa Mae Quinto.
